Ingredients (Serves 6–8)
For the Meat Sauce:
✅ 500 g (1 lb) ground beef (or a mix of beef & pork) 🍖
✅ 1 small onion, finely chopped 🧅
✅ 2 garlic cloves, minced 🧄
✅ 1 can (400 g) crushed tomatoes 🍅
✅ 2 tbsp tomato paste 🍅
✅ ½ cup red wine (optional) 🍷
✅ ½ tsp dried oregano 🌿
✅ ½ tsp dried basil 🌿
✅ Salt & black pepper, to taste 🧂
✅ 1 tbsp olive oil 🛢️
For the Béchamel Sauce:
✅ 3 tbsp butter 🧈
✅ 3 tbsp all-purpose flour 🌾
✅ 2 ½ cups milk 🥛
✅ ½ tsp salt 🧂
✅ ¼ tsp ground nutmeg (optional) 🌰
Other Ingredients:
✅ 12 lasagna sheets (no-boil or cooked) 🍝
✅ 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella 🧀
✅ ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese 🧀
Instructions:
Step 1: Prepare the Meat Sauce
1️⃣ Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Sauté the onion and garlic until soft.
2️⃣ Add the ground meat and cook until browned. Drain excess fat if needed.
3️⃣ Stir in the tomato paste, crushed tomatoes, red wine (if using), oregano, basil, salt, and pepper.
4️⃣ Simmer for 20–30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thick.
Step 2: Make the Béchamel Sauce
5️⃣ In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.
6️⃣ Whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
7️⃣ Gradually pour in milk, whisking continuously to prevent lumps.
8️⃣ Add salt and nutmeg, and cook until thick and smooth (about 5 minutes). Remove from heat.
Step 3: Assemble the Lasagna
9️⃣ Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
🔟 In a baking dish, spread a thin layer of meat sauce.
1️⃣1️⃣ Place lasagna sheets over the sauce, then add another layer of meat sauce and béchamel.
1️⃣2️⃣ Repeat the layers, finishing with béchamel and shredded mozzarella on top.
Step 4: Bake & Serve
1️⃣3️⃣ Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
1️⃣4️⃣ Remove foil, sprinkle with Parmesan cheese, and bake uncovered for 10 more minutes until golden.
