✅ 2 large boneless, skinless chicken breasts
✅ 4 slices of ham (thinly sliced)
✅ 4 slices of Swiss cheese (or Gruyère)
✅ 1 cup all-purpose flour
✅ 2 eggs (beaten)
✅ 1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko for extra crispiness)
✅ 1 teaspoon garlic powder
✅ 1 teaspoon paprika
✅ Salt & black pepper (to taste)
✅ 2 tablespoons butter (melted)
✅ 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (for frying)

Instructions:
Step 1: Prepare the Chicken
1️⃣ Place each chicken breast between two sheets of plastic wrap or parchment paper.
2️⃣ Use a meat mallet or rolling pin to gently pound the chicken to about ¼ inch (6mm) thick. This ensures even cooking.
3️⃣ Season both sides with salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder.
Step 2: Assemble the Cordon Bleu
4️⃣ Place 2 slices of ham and 2 slices of cheese on each flattened chicken breast.
5️⃣ Roll the chicken tightly from one end to the other, ensuring the filling stays inside.
6️⃣ Secure the roll with toothpicks or wrap it in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 20 minutes to help hold its shape.
Step 3: Bread the Chicken
7️⃣ Set up a breading station:
- Bowl 1: Flour
- Bowl 2: Beaten eggs
- Bowl 3: Breadcrumbs (mix with melted butter for extra crispiness)
8️⃣ Roll each chicken roll in the flour, dip into the eggs, and finally coat with breadcrumbs.
Step 4: Cook the Cordon Bleu
Option 1: Pan-Frying & Baking (Best for Extra Crispiness)
9️⃣ Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat. Sear the chicken for about 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown.
🔟 Transfer to a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) and bake for 15-20 minutes until cooked through.
Option 2: Baking Only (Healthier Option)
9️⃣ Place the breaded chicken on a greased baking sheet.
🔟 Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (400°F) for 25-30 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 74°C (165°F).
Step 5: Serve & Enjoy!
🌿 Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes, then remove toothpicks. Slice and serve with a side of mashed potatoes, steamed vegetables, or a fresh salad! 🥗
